The mechanism
How it works
Defender uses the MagnaTrack retention system with a fundamentally different fabric: OmegaTex Defender, woven with DuPont Kevlar fiber. The same aramid used in ballistic protection is what lets a flexible screen carry storm-grade loads.
The assembly is engineered and certified as a system — fabric, track, weight bar, and fasteners together. It carries a 157+ mph wind rating, a design pressure of plus or minus 200 PSF, Florida Product Approval FL30798, and Miami-Dade compliance, and it has passed large-missile impact testing under ASTM E1886/E1996 and TAS 201/202/203.
Virginia does not get hurricanes. What it does get is derechos, nor'easters, and summer squalls that throw branches and furniture across a patio. Defender is the option for exposed properties, open country, and homeowners who want the strongest screen made — not a hurricane product sold to a market that does not have hurricanes.

Why it's worth it
What this system gives you
DuPont aramid woven into OmegaTex Defender — heat resistant to 800°F.
Tested and certified to hurricane-grade standards, far beyond Mid-Atlantic storms.
An engineered load rating, not a marketing number.
Large-missile testing under ASTM E1886/E1996 and TAS 201/202/203.
Florida Product Approval FL30798 and Miami-Dade compliance.
Rolls fully into its housing — no permanent shutters on the facade.
Ownership
Care & maintenance
Defender needs the same routine care as any MagnaTrack screen: rinse the fabric, keep the tracks clear, and let us check motor limits annually.
After any severe weather event, run the screen through a full cycle and look at the fabric edge and weight bar. Kevlar is extremely tough, but debris impacts should be inspected rather than assumed harmless.
Deploy before the storm arrives, not during it. Sensors can automate this, and we set them up at installation.
Local fit
Built for Virginia, Maryland & DC
Exposed properties in Loudoun, Fauquier, and Prince William counties see wind loads that surprise people — open farmland and ridge lines funnel storms in ways a subdivision does not.
Defender also serves as security screening: the same fabric that stops a wind-driven branch resists forced entry through a screened opening, which is why we see it specified on rural properties and second homes.
