Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
American Light Design (“American Light Design,” “we,” “us”) designs, sells and installs motorized screens, awnings and other outdoor-living products from Marshall, VA. This policy covers americanlight.design. Our contact details are in section 13.
2. What we collect
We collect only what you choose to send us:
- Quote and consultation requests (/quote/, /schedule/ and the request forms on product pages): your name, phone number, email address, the ZIP code of the property, what you are interested in, your timeframe, the product the request is about, and anything you write in the message box.
- Giveaway nominations: the nomination form collects information about you and the person you nominate, and may include a story and a video. Videos are stored in our business file-storage service. The details are in the separate Giveaway Privacy Policy, which governs nominations.
- Phone calls and emails you send us directly.
Please do not include sensitive information, such as financial account or health details, in a message.
3. Collected automatically
- With a form submission: the IP address it came from and the date and time, which we use to prevent spam and abuse (for example, limiting how many requests one connection can send).
- Server logs: like most websites, our web server records requests — the page requested, the time, the browser type and the referring page — to keep the site running and secure.
- Automated visitors: for search engines and AI agents that visit the site, we keep a log of the pages they request with a one-way hash of the network address rather than the address itself.
- Site analytics: we may measure page visits using analytics that run on our own servers. We do not use third-party analytics services on our general pages.
4. Cookies and tracking
Our general pages set no advertising or tracking cookies and load no third-party trackers or advertising pixels. Fonts and scripts are served from our own server.
- When you arrive at a giveaway page from one of our ads, a small cookie remembers that for up to 30 days so the ad landing page keeps working when you come back.
- The giveaway nomination form can save an unfinished draft in your own browser’s storage, on your device, so you do not lose it. Submitting or clearing the form removes it.
- Giveaway pages may use advertising measurement and embedded video from third parties, as described in the Giveaway Privacy Policy.
5. How we use it
- To respond to your request: call or email you, schedule a consultation, measure and prepare a quote.
- To provide, schedule and support the work you hire us for.
- To run the giveaway, as its own policy describes.
- To operate, secure and improve the website, and to prevent fraud and spam.
- To comply with the law.
We contact you about your request by phone, text message or email using the details you gave us. You can ask us to stop at any time (section 9).
6. Who we share it with
- Service providers that run parts of our business for us — website hosting, email delivery, file storage and our customer-management software — who may use it only to provide those services to us.
- Manufacturers and installation partners, when needed to order, install or warranty the products you buy.
- Professional advisors, and authorities where the law requires it.
- A buyer or successor, if our business is sold or reorganized.
7. We do not sell your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising from our general pages.
8. How long we keep it
We keep request information for as long as we need it to respond, to provide and support any work you hire us for, and to keep the business records the law requires. Giveaway information is kept as the Giveaway Privacy Policy describes.
9. Your choices and rights
- Reply STOP to a text message, use the unsubscribe link in an email, or tell us on a call to stop that kind of contact.
- You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it. Virginia residents may have these rights under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, including the right to appeal a decision about a request.
To make a request, contact us using section 13. We verify requests before acting on them.
10. Security
This site is served only over an encrypted connection, and submissions are stored on access-controlled systems. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
11. Children
This site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
