American Light Design was easy to work with when it came to ordering and designing our motorized deck screens. We appreciated that our sales representative, Michael, dialed into our HOA's Design Review Committee meeting to answer questions. Even though the HOA made changes to the design we wanted, American Light Design adapted and submitted updated documents right away. There were a few scheduling issues, but nothing that could not be resolved. Overall, we were very satisfied with the end results.

Very responsive, even more thorough. They did a retractable screen install and went out of their way to ensure it was done properly. High quality products, higher quality work. I will be using them again.
Had two 6ft wide and one 12 foot screens installed on outdoor covered porch. Chose magna track after researching competing motorized retractable screens. Their design while most expensive seemed to be most robust and high quality. Give product and installation crew (Seth and Max) 5 star. Overall 4 star because outreach communications following order not very good. After order placed, sales (Nick) advised project mgr would be Mike and he would contact us re schedule etc. Heard nothing until call from a person called Danvick on Friday asking if installation team can come on Monday. Turns out large screen had a flaw and needed to be replaced. Same lack of communication after several inquiries as to when this would happen. Send email to support never got a reply e.g. Phone calls on what’s schedule were answered with they will check but no follow-up. Finally 6 1/2 weeks after initial installation Fred calls on Wednesday if crew can come on Friday. Again very pleased with work by Seth and Stewart this time to replace flawed screen.
Hello! We have to say first that the crew was spectacular! The crew installed professionally and cleaned up everything! Impeccable look and design on magnatrack screens. Operation seems flawless and made our patio a whole new room! Sun is out and it's about 95°...when sun shines directly at our patio, the screens cool area immediately! Very excited to see how the screens work when autumn arrives to keep patio warm and wind free. We are very excited to use on a regular basis! Thank you all so much!!!

Seth, Max & Timo installed our 24 foot’ x 10’ screen today. They were polite, professional and very experienced. American Light Design worked with me to solve the challenge of screening in my porch when setbacks and zoning issues precluded a deck and screened porch. The designer came to my home walked me through all my options without upsell pressure. She and the installation team were very flexible working through my questions and engaging billing. The installation team worked independently and efficiently to install my retractable screen and returned to make necessary adjustments under warranty. Very satisfied.

Working with American Light Design was easily the best decision we made during our screened porch addition. We chose to go a little above and beyond and installed the Defender Series MagnaTrack screens with the 97% solar-blocking mesh. Our porch faces due west, so late afternoon sun and heat were a major concern as were high winds in the fall and winter and blocking the rain and snow when it comes. The expanded use of the space has been dramatic. The screens significantly reduce glare and heat while still allowing us to see out, and they also provide great privacy. Because of the tight woven mesh, the space holds temperature much better than a traditional screened porch. In colder months we can drop the screens, turn on our heaters, and comfortably use the space even when it’s 25–30°F outside. With these it has effectively become a three- or four-season room. During the summer, we also added a mini-split with the fans and can lower the screens and run the AC to keep the porch comfortable even on exceedingly hot and humid days. Another major benefit is the durability when you upgrade to the defender series. While many neighbors have to raise their drop-down screens during winter or windy conditions, we are able to keep ours down without issue and protect our furniture from wind and the elements. Even in sideways rain, at worst we get a little mist inside the screens. Beyond the product itself, the American Light Design team was outstanding. They were professional, detail-oriented, and clearly committed to doing the job correctly rather than just quickly. Communication was excellent and the installation quality shows. This was without question the best investment we made in our addition to increase the usability of our space, and I would highly recommend both the MagnaTrack system and American Light Design to anyone considering upgrading or building their outdoor living space.

Best decision Ive made for my covered patio! It made an immense difference shading the patio from extreme sun, winds, protecting patio furniture, and keeping unwanted bugs, critters away... my Pup enjoys the space so much! More now and so do I even now in the Fall and colder months. It does NOT give you 100% privacy at night when the light is on inside the house but during the day this lighter color does help with privacy a bit more and that's why I chose it. The crew was amazing, very helpful and went out of their way to ensure I was satisfied with every minute detail of the project!

Just had these installed on my patio. They are everything Colleen promised us they would be. She is very knowledgeable about the product and can answer all your questions. Blocks wind and trash from blowing onto the patio, most importantly keeps all the flying insects out. Have a fire pit table out there and on Thanksgiving had five people eat dinner out there with it heating the space up nicely and kept it warm the whole time, the outside temp was 40 and windy. They also offer a great deal of privacy. Everyone we dealt with from start to finish were great.

I just had two motorized screens put in and the crew did an amazing job. It was great talking with the owner and the crew while they did the work and they ensured that I was able to get the app loaded onto my phone and walked me through it, asked me if I had any questions or concerns, and followed up with me to make sure everything was to my satisfaction in the days following. As a fellow contractor and custom home builder, it’s tough to find people that do quality work and provide a great service and these guys definitely did that. Definitely recommend!

Just had a magnatrack screen installed and I’m very happy with the results. Everyone from start to finish was very professional and friendly. The crew that installed the screen, Ken, William, Stuart, and Julio were super nice. They finished the installation rather quickly and braved the chilling temperature. Very appreciative. The only thing I was a bit disappointed with was the amount of time it took and the lack of communication. Initially I asked about the time frame since most other things I had ordered took a while, I was told they were different, was told installation would happen in early Jan., about 4-5 wks and is now mid Feb. Looking at other reviews it looks like I’m not the only one with this issue. I also was the one that reached out to them as opposed to getting a courtesy call with an update about delays. In my opinion, delays are understandable, just let your customers know. Bottom line, would I use them again? Yes, I would.

In the midst of the Winter Storm we got our optional Sunroom courtesy American Light Design. We had a covered patio and were considering wether to convert part of it to sunroom, when I saw the Ad from American Light Design, the idea of converting the patio to a sunroom when we wanted and get the open patio when we wanted was very appealing. Do when Jessica came over and showed us the solution we liked it very much, most of all the the flexibility. So we signed the contract, after that that the whole process was very smooth and clear. Jessica ensured everything went as per the plan. Within less than a week of signing the contract, Nicolas visited our home, took all measurements, while doing that he suggested that we convert one proposed fixed scrern to a motorized one with rationale and we did it. In less than 8 weeks Nicolas, Yuan, Rene and one more of their team members came and completed the installation. In spite of a Winter Storm in progress they came early and worked nonstop to finish the installation. Great job ! Wonderful people ! Kept their time and schedule as planned.

We couldn’t be happier with our motorized screens from American Light Design! After three full seasons of use, we’ve truly seen their incredible benefits. They’ve made our porch into a functional and comfortable year-round space. The screens keep the area cooler during the warmer months and warmer when it’s cold, making it feel like we’ve added an entirely new room to our house. Despite the complexity and uniqueness of my project, which many a similar contractor had turned down or insisted would be cost-prohibitive, American Light Design tackled my rooftop pergola head-on in both a professional and timely manner. When I first broached the concept of a rooftop pergola atop my Washington, DC condo to make my property stand out, Hailey and Lee at ALD responded with a smile and can-do attitude, respectively. Both were transparent and communicative throughout the weekslong process, from design to execution, and were able to adapt on the fly to engineering modifications necessitated by the rooftop installation. I was especially impressed by the alacrity with which Lee and his team were able to commandeer a four-story articulating crane and steer it down my narrow DC street for the installation and even moreso by the final prodcut. If you are in the DMV and looking for the premier contractor to spruce up your outdoors (and only one licensed for Azenco, which several contractors insisted was the only pergola they would feel comfortable putting atop my roof), American Light Design is the only option in my opinion. And no, I was not paid for this review! ;)

This company delivers super and quality patio screens for my home and the best customer services and trustworthy confidence that you want to have. You got it , they are the one and seek no further. Excellent process starts from estimates, contractor, providing documentation for you to file HOA if needed, in process of screening made, and schedule for final installation and post completion and cleanup job site. Joshua and Nick came on site to throughly evaluate works and gave me the affordable price to contract and enjoy my patio living space with privacy, cleaner and manageable and comfortable and enjoyable space. After screens are manufactured in 6-8 weeks also, Steuart and Juan came and installed in very rigid cold weather below 30 degree most of time. They were so hard working and skip lunch to get jobs done perfectly and magnificently. Nick also came to wrap and show me how to operate screens locally with remote and remotely (yes, from your phone too) and make sure products delivered and installed properly and amazingly You can see outside nicely but outside won’t be easily to see inside during the day. Yeah, so nice to reward your life. Joshua, Nick, Stuart, and Juan are great team and deliver the best screens services ever. Your home with this addition put you in paradise all year round Highly recommend it and you shall will enjoy your patio in no heart beat. I highly recommend the solar screen for any lanai or balcony. The screen was custom-made after precise measurements were taken to ensure a perfect fit. Despite the recent shutdown of the Florida-based factory due to Hurricane Milton, the order was completed as quickly as possible. Installation took about 3 to 4 hours, and the crew worked efficiently, delivering excellent results. They thoroughly explained how the screen functions and even cleaned up all debris afterward. Joshua, a representative, visited our home to explain each step of the process, answered all of our questions, responded promptly, and followed up until installation was complete. His professionalism was outstanding. The entire experience, from purchasing the screen to installation, was smooth and well-handled. Now, I can simply relax and enjoy my new screen.

Poor Customer Service and No Accountability I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel others should know about my experience with American Light Design. I had a MagnaTrack motorized screen along with permanent side screen panels and a screen door installed on my patio. Within the first year, one of the permanent side screens began separating. For a product and installation of this cost, I expected it to last much longer. I repeatedly contacted American Light Design for help but spent months being ignored. When I finally reached someone, I was told they no longer install that screen system because they are now using a different one. That alone suggests they recognized there were issues with the original product. Instead of standing behind their work, they mailed me replacement screen material in April 2026 and told me to hire my own handyman to install it. They also promised me $200 to help cover the repair. However, I never actually received the money. I was instructed to access it through their app as a referral credit, but no balance ever appeared, and there was no way to redeem it. It is now July 2026, and once again my calls are being ignored. I am left with a defective screen, an unfulfilled promise of reimbursement, and no meaningful customer support. A company's reputation is not built solely on the products it sells—it's built on how it treats customers when something goes wrong. In my case, American Light Design failed to stand behind its installation, failed to honor its promise of reimbursement, and failed to communicate. Given that the company has moved to a different screen system, I believe the fair resolution would have been to replace the defective side screen with the newer system rather than expecting me to arrange and pay for repairs on a product they no longer install. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend American Light Design.

The team members you originally reached had since left the company, and because we gave clients direct personal lines rather than a call center, your messages unfortunately went to phones no longer associated with our business. That's on us, and we've since established a phone line that is permanent and available on our website so this can't happen again. For context on the issue itself: your motorized MagnaTrack screen continues to operate perfectly, and the separation was limited to one fixed side panel at the edge nearest the door handle — a high-traffic contact point where screens commonly get pressed against as people come in and out. Localized separation of that kind falls outside both manufacturer and workmanship warranties with any screen company. Even so we wanted to show appreciation and support to all of our clients and we didn't want cost to be a burden: so we paid for and shipped replacement screen fabric out of our pocket and funded a $200 credit toward a local handyman's installation of that small fabric area. That credit has been in your account since June 4th and our support team member, Fred, has reached out to walk you through transferring it to your bank — it's still there and ready for you. We've also since moved exclusively to MagnaTrack's new Defender Series track system — because we only install what we believe is the very best technology available — This would be an upgrade to any spline and groove screen system, and was not on the market at the time you purchased your screen system. Installation was great. My only complaint was the amount of time it took from initial contact/deposit to the actual installation. It took three full months, almost to the day! Initially I was told it would be about four weeks.

The screen is everything as advertised: no bugs, no dust, no pollen, strong with high winds, and offers much privacy. During rain spells it also keeps the water out. Previously, my furniture would get damp after a rain storm, but after installing these screens it’s barely wet! I chose the 97% option. Although this option doesn’t provide much air to come thru the screen on a summers night, it was a trade off on the privacy I was seeking with close neighbors in the development. My neighbors say they can’t see in, but I can see out. Although they provide you with samples to help w your selection it would be nice if they had a local setup where u can the differences w thickness of the various screens on a live model. Communication could use a significant improvement. The scheduling installation could be better often providing only 1 or 2 days notice as a standard practice. The company sends a nice thank you token afterwards which is a nice gesture. I have had the screen now 3 months and overall am 100% loving my purchase. I am on my patio much more and couldn’t be happier. In a short time we have been thru torrid rainstorms, tornado warnings, and hurricane-like winds this summer. And I have been on my patio during each event. The only test left is snow lol! Welp, winter is coming!! Thus far, definitely worth the high cost dollar tag. During install the workers were very nice, arrived on time, efficient, and respectful of the property. They cleaned up absolutely everything, which was very impressive considering the amount of work they had to do onsite.

Very happy with the end result. Crew was great and kept everything clean. Project was a side window opening on our balcony facing the weather-side of our home. Frame was not complete level but the crew installed and leveled the screen. Finished by chalking and sealing the screen frame. While a small job compared to many, I highly recommend American Light Design for their sales, estimation and installation work

ALD was responsive and professional. They assisted in resolving my issue in installing screens by being responsive and sticking to the agreed schedule. Their trained technicians were also detailed oriented especially when it came to ensuring the housing was balanced and aligned correctly and the enclosures was sufficiently tight to meet the company specifications and not allowing the enclosure to have any insect spaces. The business manager was easy to talk to so ask for Nicolas !!

I have a big deck and balcony. Whenever it rains hard or thunderstorms, both my deck and balcony are getting wet, and dust is another issue. After finding American Light Design for screening and watching videos, etc. I set up an appointment. I saw their material, and it was premium quality. The sales person answered all the questions professional and guided through the selection of product. I went with white color motors and a black screen that blocks 90% of the sun. The crew came to install the motorized and custom installed those screens. They stained the wood to match my existing deck color, etc. Also sealed the edges with the silicone caulking. Assisted with physical remote setup and phone app setup. The 6 screens look amazing. I can custom open/close the screens. Most importantly, there is no issue with rain or thunderstorms wet my deck and balcony and no issues with dust, too. Now, my family can use 100% of our deck and balcony. I believe 90% of sunblock screens are a good selection because you can still see outside nature through the screen and once the screens are closed then you can use cooler for summer and heater for winter to keep the warm or cool air within the closed screens. Two thumbs up!

10.2023 My hubby and I have been looking for a garage door screen for the past few years. I found place by searching online (Facebook). From Eric (our sales person) to installation, everyone is very pleasant to work with. Eric took his time to explain EVERYTHING to include answering my husband’s (who is very picky) detailed questions. I am very happy with the entire process! This is a very easy company to work with. The garage screen keeps out the mosquitoes, flies, bugs period. It also has solar protection and provides some privacy (unless you have a bright light on). If you use your garage like we do (I work out often in the garage), this is a great addition to the house! So if you are considering it, I highly recommend this company for the installation of Magnatrax garage screen! Note: this does not replace your garage door nor removes your garage door; your garage door stays.
