What openness factor should I pick for a V-Track solar screen?
Fabrics run from 1 to 10 percent openness — how exposure direction picks the number, and why the 95 class is the crowd favorite.
What openness factor should I pick for a V-Track solar screen?
V-Track solar fabrics — from VisionTex, Twitchell, and Serge Ferrari, in a dozen colors — run from 1 to 10 percent openness, and exposure direction does most of the choosing. West-facing patios taking low, hot afternoon sun reward the tightest weaves; south-facing spaces balance well in the middle of the range; east and north exposures can afford more open, breezier fabric. The 95 class — roughly 5 percent openness — is the most popular choice across our installs because it lands heat, view, and daytime privacy in comfortable territory for Mid-Atlantic exposures.
Darker colors counterintuitively give the clearest view through the screen, like good sunglasses. We bring physical samples to every consultation so you can confirm against your own light and landscape before ordering.
