Where should an Open-Roll awning be installed?
Sheltered locations — under overhangs, soffits, and upper decks — and the honest rule for exposed walls.
Where should an Open-Roll awning be installed?
Somewhere the house already shelters. The ideal Open-Roll locations are under a deep roof overhang, beneath a soffit, or tucked under a second-story deck — anywhere the structure above shields the exposed roller and fabric from direct sun and rain while the awning is retracted, which is most of its life. In those spots the Open-Roll delivers cassette-grade shade at the line's friendliest price, and the optional hood adds partial coverage where the overhang is marginal.
On a fully exposed wall with nothing above it, we will steer you honestly toward a Semi-Cassette or Full-Cassette instead — not to upsell, but because fabric that bakes and weathers on an open wall ages faster than the price difference justifies. Placement is one of the first things we assess at the consultation.
